ABOUT THE OWNER
Every breath offers another chance for a healthy, active life.
Originally from Boston, Robin moved to San Diego in 2009 for a warm and sunny place to recover from hip surgery resulting from years as a competitive gymnast and dancer. Her overuse injuries and chronic pain issues (read her story here) ultimately motivated her to pursue a career in exercise physiology, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Robin received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Along with her education, Robin’s personal experiences have guided her in developing a holistic approach in treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction and helping her clients to FEEL BETTER, MOVE BETTER, & ENJOY LIFE.
During her early years as a personal trainer, she gained valuable experience working with various populations. This included at-risk youth in Boston, college students at UMass Boston's fitness center, and clients at big-box gyms like the YMCA and Gold's Gym. Additionally, she spent four years as the Assistant Director of her mother's dance studio, The Dance Inn, located just north of Boston. In her role at the dance studio, she not only taught dance but also managed the studio's youth dance intensive and pre-professional youth companies. As the manager, she developed and implemented strength and conditioning programs and organized health and fitness workshops. Prior to opening Breathe Fitness, she worked as the clinic director and fitness specialist at Thrive Wellness, a holistic health clinic in San Diego. This experience allowed her to collaborate with practitioners of acupuncture, massage, psychology, and chiropractic, reinforcing her holistic approach to fitness.
In addition to her ACE personal trainer certification, Robin has made a commitment to ongoing education by completing various trainings to enhance her expertise and support her work. Robin understands that posture and pain are universal experiences, but the way they are perceived and their impact on individuals can vary greatly. Robin does not just train the body, she creates programming to support the whole human in front of her. Her goal is to help her clients not just achieve their fitness goals, but become better friends with their bodies in the process.
In her spare time, Robin loves taking dance classes, hanging at the beach or playground with her kids, grabbing brunch with her friends, or catching live music with her husband. Robin is grateful to her parents for instilling an early appreciation for movement, health, and a belief that anything is possible. Robin’s experiences have helped to craft an approach to fitness that is personalized and based on a sincere appreciation for the delicate balance and incredible potential of the human body.
